Huawei’s Honor brand introduced the Honor 6X smartphone with dual rear cameras for the global markets at the CES 2017 last month. It was launched in India a couple of weeks back and went on sale exclusively on Amazon.in in the first flash sale yesterday. The phone currently runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with the company’s own EMUI 4.1 on top. Now the company has promised to roll out EMUI 5.0 based on Android 7.0 (Nougat) starting from next month.
At the India launch event of the Honor 6X the company said that the smartphone will get Android Nougat update in Q2 2017, which is between April and June. So the update might not roll out for all countries in March.
In a statement to Android Police, Huawei said:
The new EMUI for Honor 6X will be arriving next month, and it’s been updated based on consumer feedback. In case you or your team is planning a full review any time soon, it might be worthwhile to wait!
The EMUI 5.0 for the Honor 6X might not have all the features available in the Mate 9 since the company says that it has been updated based on consumer feedback. The Honor 8 Lite smartphone that was introduced yesterday runs Android Nougat-based EMUI 5.0 out of the box.
